Getting to Lille from Paris is convenient and efficient. The fastest way is by taking a high-speed train (TGV) from Gare du Nord, with a travel time of approximately one hour. Alternatively, you can drive or take a bus, which takes around two to three hours depending on traffic conditions.

Travelling from Brussels to Lille is a breeze, even we managed it!. The quickest option is by hopping on a high-speed train (Thalys or Eurostar) from Brussels-Midi/Zuid station, with a travel time of approximately 35 minutes. Additionally, there are frequent bus connections available, taking around one hour to reach Lille.
How to get around Lille
The best way to navigate around Lille is by utilizing its efficient and extensive public transportation system. The city boasts a well-connected metro network, with two lines covering major attractions and neighbourhoods. Additionally, buses provide excellent coverage, including access to destinations outside Lille city centre.
Purchasing a Lille City Pass is a great cost-effective way of seeing the city. As per Tripadvisor, for just €39 you can a three-day pass which includes free entrance to many museums, including Lille’s Notre Dame Cathedral, and free bus and metro transportation. One and two-day passes are also available at a reduced price.
For those who prefer cycling, Lille offers a convenient bike-sharing system, V’Lille, with numerous stations throughout the city.
Walking is also a pleasant option. Lille’s compact size makes it easy to explore the Vieux-Lille on foot, allowing you to soak in the charming atmosphere and discover hidden gems along the way.

The main reason for our visit was due to the book market which takes place in the inner courtyard between 1pm and 7pm from Tuesday to Sunday every week. You’ll find an array of second-hand books in both English and French as well as vintage newspapers, historic prints and much much more! You can even find people tango-ing between 7:30pm and 10:30pm every Sunday!
As you can tell by the pictures, the architecture of this incredible building is well worth visiting all on its own!
