Intro to 12go Asia with links
As we’ve mentioned in our other guides to travelling South East Asia, we relied heavily on 12Go Asia and it never let us down. The site is so easy to use as it pinpoints both your pick-up and drop-off locations, allowing you to plan when to arrive and your onward travel. In addition, it either provides you with your ticket electronically or tells you where to pick it up from. The site also provides a variety of fast boat companies such as Blue Water Express and Eka Jaya fastboat.
Through your accommodation
This option is both likely no matter if you’re staying in a hotel or hostel. Simply speak to reception or the owner of your accommodation as they’re bound to know a driver or a company that will help you book a boat.
This is especially the case in east Bali but do be cautious as some may try to add a little fee to the overall price. Do make sure to know how much the ticket actually costs, as we’ve highlighted below, so you don’t get scammed.
At the ferry port
At the ferry ports that depart to Gili T, Padang Bai Port or Serangan Pier, there are multiple company offices in the immediate vicinity. Simply rock up and you can buy a ticket over the counter.
The price of the ticket will also be a lot less as you’re going direct to the supplier and cutting out everything in between. If you’re very relaxed about timing and want to keep it as cheap as possible, this is definitely the option for you.

With a tour company
If you’d rather not deal with the stress of booking through your accommodation or at the ferry port, why not book through a tour company that will sort everything for you? This is an extremely popular method for those wishing to get from Bali to Gili Trawangan without the stress of organising it themselves.
This Viator tour takes you from Bali (Serangan or Padang Bai) to Gili Trawangan, Gili Air or Lombok, and vice versa for $65 per person.
Do bear in mind that a tour company’s prices will be much larger than the options above so companies can make a profit.
Overall, our recommended approach would be to book through 12Go Asia. They have a combination of low prices and provide you with all the information that you need. It also eliminates the stress of booking hours ahead of your intended travel time in case there are no tickets available.
