Map of the Best Restaurants in Boquete

The 8 Best Restaurants in Boquete, Panama.

1. Big Daddy’s Grill

Price Point: $10–25 per person
Best For: American comfort food, seafood lovers, casual dinners

We almost missed Big Daddy’s Grill because the entrance doesn’t look like much, but don’t let that fool you! The back seating area is gorgeous and totally worth the visit.

Big Daddy’s is very American/westernised, so if you’re craving home-style comfort food, this is your spot. Portions are generous, and the highlight for us was the Shrimp Po’Boy—creamy, spicy, and downright addictive. Honestly, we wished we had stayed longer in Boquete just so we could eat here again.

2. Sugar and Spice Boquete

Price Point: $5–15 per person
Best For: Breakfast, brunch, baked goods, casual lunches

Sugar and Spice quickly became our go-to spot in Boquete, and it’s clear why locals and expats flock here. Their bakery section is legendary—fresh bread and pastries made daily—and the menu spans Mexican dishes, sandwiches, and desserts.

We couldn’t get enough of the Chocolate Red Velvet Oreo Cake or their artisan breads. The Mexican food was a total win too. The staff were super friendly, even during busy lunch hours, making this place feel like a home away from home.

3. RetroGusto

RetroGusto is perfect if you’re looking for something a bit more upscale. The food quality is phenomenal, and while we were slightly disappointed that pizza isn’t served at lunch, the dishes we tried—pork with mash and spicy sausage tagliatelle—were incredible.

We recommend grabbing a table outside in the front seating to people-watch while you enjoy your meal. The hill-climb is worth it for the ambience alone.

4. The Perfect Pair – Coffee & Chocolate

Price Point: $3–12 per person
Best For: Coffee lovers, chocolate enthusiasts, dessert treats

If you need a coffee pick-me-up or just a sweet treat, The Perfect Pair is unbeatable. It’s split into two areas: a cosy second-floor café and a chocolate-making factory downstairs.

We loved sipping coffee upstairs, away from the blazing sun, while indulging in artisan chocolates like coconut and matcha. If you’re up for it, book a chocolate-making class where you can create, taste, and customise your own chocolate. Trust us—it’s a total blast.

5. APIZZA

Price Point: $8–15 per person
Best For: Pizza lovers, gluten-free options, casual dinners

If pizza is your jam, APIZZA is the only place to go in Boquete. They make everything fresh in front of you, and the flavour speaks for itself. Surprisingly, their gluten-free pizza tastes just as good as the classic versions.

If pizza isn’t your vibe, their burgers are solid too. Staff are friendly, helpful, and will happily provide the WiFi password or local recommendations while you enjoy your meal.

6. Bambuda Castle

Price Point: $10–25 per meal at the restaurant
Best For: Scenic dining, hotel stays, steak lovers

Bambuda Castle might look unassuming from the outside, but inside it’s a gem. We stayed here for a few nights and could’ve easily stayed longer just for the food and views. The steak with cheese sauce became an instant favourite—the portions are generous, and the prices are shockingly affordable.

As the only castle in Central America, it’s a unique experience that’s part restaurant, part boutique hotel.

7. The Rock

Price Point: $10–20 per person
Best For: Breakfast, families with kids, panoramic views

We didn’t visit The Rock ourselves, but it comes highly recommended. It boasts panoramic views of Boquete, a kids’ play area, and overlooks the river. Breakfast is great here, though a bit on the pricier side. Definitely a spot to check out if scenic dining is on your list.

8. Boquete Brewing Company

Price Point: $5–15 per person for food, $3–7 per drink
Best For: Craft beer, casual evenings, live music

Boquete Brewing Company isn’t your typical sit-down restaurant, but it’s an excellent spot for evening relaxation. They have a permanent burger van outside that serves some seriously juicy burgers. Pair it with a craft beer or cider while enjoying live music—it’s a fun, lively spot to unwind after a day of exploring.

Why Boquete is a Foodie Paradise

Boquete’s culinary scene ranges from Mexican comfort food to upscale dining with scenic views. Whether you want a casual burger with a craft beer or a decadent dessert paired with artisan coffee, this mountain town has you covered.

From our personal favourites like Big Daddy’s Grill and Sugar and Spice to scenic spots like Bambuda Castle, these restaurants highlight the diversity and charm of Boquete’s food scene.
