How many nights should you stay in La Fortuna?

We’d recommend 2–4 days to properly enjoy the area. We stayed for 2 nights and didn’t feel like we left too soon.
This gives you enough time to visit Fortuna Waterfall, Arenal Volcano National Park, Hot Springs and tours. 

Do you need a car in La Fortuna?

Not essential, but it helps. We didn’t have our own vehicle during our time in Costa Rica and got away with just booking tours and taxis.
